OBJ is a simple, open 3D geometry format developed by Wavefront Technologies. It stores 3D geometry including vertices, texture coordinates, normals, and faces in a human-readable text format.

Common questions about viewing OBJ files online
What is an OBJ file?
OBJ (Wavefront OBJ) is a simple, widely-supported 3D model format that stores geometry data in plain text. It's one of the most universal 3D formats and is supported by virtually all 3D modeling software.
Why are my textures not showing?
OBJ files don't embed textures - they reference external MTL (material) and image files. Our web viewer currently displays geometry with a default material. For textured models, consider converting to GLB format which embeds all textures.
Can I view OBJ files with MTL materials?
Currently, our viewer loads OBJ geometry with a default purple material. MTL file support is planned for a future update. For the best experience with textured models, convert your OBJ+MTL to GLB format.
How do I convert OBJ to GLB?
You can convert OBJ to GLB using Blender (free): import your OBJ file with materials, then export as glTF Binary (.glb). Online converters are also available for quick conversions.
Why is my model not centered?
Our viewer automatically centers and scales models to fit the viewport. If the model appears offset, it may have been exported with a non-zero origin. This doesn't affect the viewing experience.
Can I create 3D models with your service?
