What is GLB Format?

GLB (Binary glTF)

GLB is the binary version of the glTF (GL Transmission Format) file format. It packages all 3D model data including geometry, textures, animations, and materials into a single binary file.

  • Single file contains everything - no external dependencies
  • Smaller file size compared to GLTF
  • Fastest loading for web applications

GLTF (JSON glTF)

GLTF is the JSON-based version that references external binary data and texture files. It's more readable and easier to edit but requires multiple files.

  • Human-readable JSON format
  • Easy to modify and debug
  • Supports separate texture file management

GLB Viewer FAQ

Common questions about viewing GLB files online

What is a GLB file?

GLB (Binary glTF) is a binary 3D file format that stores 3D models, textures, and animations in a single file. It's the most efficient format for web-based 3D content and is widely supported by modern browsers and 3D applications.

How do I convert other formats to GLB?

You can convert 3D files to GLB using tools like Blender (free), or online converters. In Blender, import your model and export it as glTF Binary (.glb). Our AI generator also outputs models in GLB format.

Can I view GLB files with textures?

Yes! GLB files embed all textures and materials within the file. Our viewer fully supports PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials including albedo, normal, metallic, and roughness maps.

Are animations supported?

Yes, our viewer supports GLB files with embedded animations. However, the animation playback controls are coming in a future update. Currently, the first animation plays automatically if present.

Why is my GLB file not loading?

Common issues include: file size over 50MB limit, corrupted file, or unsupported extensions. Try opening the file in Blender to verify it's valid. If the issue persists, the file may use features not yet supported by our WebGL renderer.

Can I create GLB models with your service?

Yes! Our AI-powered 3D generator creates models in GLB format. Try our Creative Plaza models for free, or upload your own images for custom 3D figurine generation.
